Parkruns

The 5km (3.1 mile) free-event for all takes place every Saturday morning at 9am. Here are the results of the Striders who were out in force.

Peter Monk down under: Yes, Peter Monk joined the ‘Strider Down Under Parkrun Club’ which includes Danik Bates and Sandra Howes (is there anyone else I missed?) as he completed the St Peter’s Parkrun course in Sydney, Australia. 260 runners took part in the event and Peter finished in 25-21, finishing 95th.

Back home in the UK there were a lot of Parkrun’s cancelled due to the icy conditions and snowy weather. Because of this there was no run at Fairland’s Valley in Stevenage this week, however a few Striders made it to other courses nearby.

Over in Suffolk, Danik Bates completed the three-lap course around football pitches in Haverhill. After leading the event in the first lap, Danik found the going tough and eventually finished seventh (out of 43 runners) in 22-39 but also came first in his age category (VM35-39). Down the A1 at Ellenbrook Fields in Hatfield, three Striders were in the field of 261 runners taking part in this event. Darren March in 23-23 (27th), Louise March 37-35 (216th) and Tracy Norris in 48-25 (243rd).
