Ok, so where do we start this week? So many good news and feel good factors in this week’s Parkrun’s which Strider members have taken part in. For those who don’t know, the 5km (3.1 mile) free-event for all takes place every Saturday morning at 9am. Here are the results of the Striders.

Kelly Bedford down under: For the second week running we had our fourth Strider join the ‘Strider Down Under Parkrun Club’ which includes Danik Bates, Peter Monk and Sandra Howes, as she completed the Whitford Nodes Parkrun course in Perth, Australia. 86 runners took part in the event and Kelly finished in 36-14, finishing 53rd. The course runs through a park alongside a beach and this course is one of a very few which runs alongside the Indian Ocean (so, this is a first for a Strider also!).

Back home in the UK, we start off with the fastest Strider where Steve ‘the machine’ Wells took on the Peterborough course and finished 9th out of 560 runners in 19-17. At Great Lines parkrun course in Gillingham Kent, Darren March finished in 22-58 (39th out of 453 runners) whilst Louise March finished in 33-57 (301st). At the two lap cross country course at Westmill Parkrun near Ware, Karl Sparks finished in 23-59 (7th out of 73 runners). Danik Bates took it easy at Linford Wood parkrun in northern Milton Keynes and finished in 29-33 (129th out of 274 runners).

Ken Marshall celebrated 100 parkruns – yes, the latest member to join the 100 Parkrun club. To celebrate this amazing achievement, lots of Striders joined him on the run at the Stevenage Parkrun course at Fairlands Valley Lakes. Well done Ken. There was a Parkrun PB for Sharon Franklin and Carly Wright completed her first ever Parkrun.
