Scott’s 10K midweek league
On Wednesday 39 Striders took part in the 4th (and last) scoring 10K midweek league race of 2019. On a very warm night with poor air quality, the going was tough. 23 men and 16 ladies from the club took on the new undulating course that started just outside Fairlands Valley Park and finished in the Valley. First Strider home was Jonny Nicholls in an impressive 38:48 followed by Steve Wells in 40:30 finishing third in his age category. First Lady home was newcomer Hannah West 51:02, followed by Esperanza Castro 52:47 and Liezel Bezuidenhout 53:37. There were PBs for Brendon Kelly 41:04, Glenn Cuzner 41:56, Phil Deaves 50:15 and Anne Miller 55:32. The men’s team finished third and the ladies’ team fourth. Overall the club were fourth on the night and overall fourth in the division of eight clubs.
The next race on 11/7/2019 is the MOB match which is a non-scoring fixture where all clubs from all three divisions can take part.
