Stevenage Striders Press Release – 28th July 2019

Lea Valley Festival

Two Striders were at the Lea Valley running festival on Sunday. Stuart Cuzner took on the ten-mile event and finished the course in 01-15-10 finishing 35th out of 178 runners. Linda Howell took on the 10km event and finished in 01-05-48.

Tough Mudder

Hannah West and Chris Dawson took on the Tough Mudder in Yorkshire on Saturday, running around eight miles in the process whilst ducking and driving in mud, puddles, and doing the odd climbing. Well done guys for running this in the very wet conditions. (Results awaiting).

This week’s dose of Parkruns

The 5km (3.1 mile) free-event for all took place on Saturday morning and a few Striders were out in force.

Stevenage: 273 runners took part in the two-lap course at Fairlands Valley lakes. Greg Bradbury 23-22 (47th), Dayle Clarke 23-40 (53rd), Darren March 23-55 (55th), William Reynolds 24-05 (57th), Liezel Bezuidenhout 25-15 (80th), Darren Isted 27-20 (127th), Colin Fenwick 33-31 (215th), Suzanna Davidson 37-28 (250th), Lyn Hammocks 39-10 (258th), Tracy Norris 44-03 (265th).

Away results:

International Parkrun: The Kelly’s were back in Ireland at the weekend, completing the Portumna Parkrun to which 35 runners took on the course. Brendon Kelly finished 2nd in a time of 19-56 whilst Peter Kelly finished in 31-48 (25th).

Back Home:

Hampstead Heath (London): Danik Bates 23-23 (33rd out of 177 runners).

Ellenbrook Fields (Hatfield): Ken Marshall 25-29 (98th out of 249 runners).

Oak Hill (Barnet, London): Vicky Walker-Nolan 26-34 (71st out of 144 runners).

Shrewsbury (Shropshire): Garry Wallace 28-20 (228th out of 433 runners) and Louise Chancellor 29-59 (287th).

Blickling (Norfolk): Davie Stafford 21-55 (23rd out of 240 runners – also with a buggy). Clare Wing 25-42 (80th).

Pocket (St Neots, Cambs): Alan Watt 26-38 (79th out of 242 runners).
