Here is this week’s Stride On! newsletter.
Just a few points to think about.
Research shows that for every 2 pounds you are over weight your running efficiency will reduce by 1%. This means that if you are 6 pounds overweight you are 3% less efficient than you could be. That means you are potentially 3% slower as a runner.
What does that mean? If you are currently running a 5K in 25:35 and are just 6 pounds overweight, you could run 24:49 just by shedding those extra pounds. If you are as much as a stone overweight you could be running 23:48 by shedding that weight.
How do you lose weight? Just ensure you run at least three times a week with us and focus on the calories in versus calories out equation. If you are burning more calories than those you are sticking in your mouth you will lose weight. It’s as simple as that.
What should you eat. Keep it simple, keep it balanced. Follow the principles of the eatwell plate. That doesn’t mean you can’t have the odd treat at times!
Keep active, a balanced diet, more calories out than in and the weight will come off and the running times will plummet!
