Remembrance Marathon and Half Marathon

The Striders were out in force as they competed at the marathon 26.2-mile distance and half-marathon 13.1-mile distance down at Walton-on-Thames, Surrey on Remembrance Day, running laps along the Thames Path. Times also included a two-minute silence if the runners were still running at 11am. In the marathon distance, Davie Stafford finished in 3-56-41 finishing 50th out of 241 runners whilst Clare Wing finished in 04-36-46, finishing 110th.

In the half-marathon distance, the following Striders completed the race. There were 352 runners. Martin Watson 01-52-10 (54th), Stuart Cuzner 01-55-03 (69th), Greg Bradbury 01-59-31 (85th), Peter Monk 02-03-36 (108th), Ian McClements 02-04-08 (107th), Sue Loughran 03-05-24 (298th), Charlotte Leigh 03-19-28 (316th), Sue Leigh 03-19-29 (317th).

Excalibur 11 Marathon

On Saturday, Clare Wing returned to marathon action for the first in a double header at the weekend before doing the Remembrance Day Marathon at Walton-on-Thames. Both marathons were on the same course. Clare managed to finish the race in 04-27-58 finishing 13th. Davie Stafford ran the event also with a buggy and finished 14th in 04-31-50.

Remembrance at Saffron Walden

In the half-marathon event, Tom Sclanders managed to get an all-time personal best by finishing the course in 01-29-21 and finished in 12th place.

Two Striders took part in the 6.2-mile (10km) race in Saffron Walden, Cambridgeshire on Saturday. Ian Levy in 52-44 and Frances Levy in 53.44.

Endurance life ultra marathon in the gower!

Hannah West completed 56k in 8:02-00, which a lot of the course was in muddy conditions.

Gary on the Grand Union

Gary Withers was slip sliding along the towpaths of the Grand Union canal in the autumn half marathon. Gary completed the course in 2:04:43.


The 5km (3.1 mile) free-event for all took place on Saturday morning and there were some Striders out in force, some at Stevenage, some away.

Home result in Stevenage: 369 runners took part in the two-lap course at Fairlands Valley lakes.
