Club news release 19/1/2020

Essendon 10k & 5k: The Striders were out in force at the Essendon County Club & Golf Course on Sunday for the fourth annual race day. In the 10k (6.2 mile) event to which 262 runners took part in, Glenn Cuzner was first Strider home finishing 14th in 42-22. Danik Bates was second Strider finishing 27th in 45-43 gaining a course personal-best by nearly four minutes and third Strider home was Toby Robinson finishing 36th in 47-02. Eloise Billington gained a personal best time by finishing in 50-08 (65th place). Other results: Stuart Cuzner 53-27 (93rd), Peter Monk 53-28 (94th). In the 5km (3.1 mile) event, Jade Pope finished in 32-06 (45th) whilst Rachel Hall finished in 48-54 (154th place). There were 185 runners in the 5km event. 

Fred Hughes 10 Mile: Helen Moye took part in the 10-mile (16km) event in St Albans on Sunday completing the course in 01-24-08, gaining a personal best in the progress. 

One final bit…it’s Parkrun!

The 5km (3.1 mile) free-event for all took place on Saturday morning and there were some Striders out in force, some at Stevenage and some away.

Stevenage Parkrun: 543 runners took part in the two-lap course around Fairlands Lakes. Robert Moye 22-03 (37th), Peter Fitzgerald 25-28 (103rd), Steve Moore 25-57 (120th), Alan Watt 25-59 (122nd), Fiona Davis 27-54 (205th), Dave Bryan 28-31 (227th), Hayley Stenning 28-58 (247th) – parkrun PB, Darren Isted 29-02 (249th), Elizabeth Love 29-49 (266th), Deirdre Hawes 32-50 (364th), Caroline Longfellow 32-54 (365th), Sarah Kinsella 33-50 (404th), Steve Kinsella 33-52 (406th), Esperanza Castro 36-19 (446th), Penny Fanthrope37-52 (484th), Tracy Norris 39-53 (516th).   

Away results

Westmill (Ware, Herts): 99 runners took part. Oliver Garbas 21-12 (2nd), Jonny Nichols 21-13 (3rd), DanikBates 23-39 (10th), Jenny Ingram-Tedd 26-17 (26th), Jade Pope 31-54 (64th).

Letchworth (Herts): 130 runners took part. Steve Wells 21-28 (2nd), William Reynolds 25-22 (17th), Chrissie Thomas 42-22 (110th).

The Leas (Minster, Kent): 187 runners took part. Darren March 23-50 (25th), Louise March 36-17 (139th). 

Barclay (Hoddesdon, Herts): 157 runners took part. Garry Wallace 29-48 (69th), Louise Chancellor 31-42 (84th).

St Albans (Herts): 696 runners took part. Ian McClements 28-25 (282nd), Dorota Adamcyzk 38-18 (614th) and Lauren Pegg 38-53 (621st).
