Club Affiliation
The Stevenage Striders Running Club is currently affiliated with two organisations that support road running.
Association of Running Clubs (ARC)
Our primary affiliation is with the Association of Running Clubs (ARC), which is free for all members.
Members can be considered affiliated only when entering races that hold an official ARC race permit.
Look for the ARC logo or the phrase: “This race is run under ARC permit xx/yyyy.”
UK Athletics (UKA)
We are not currently affiliated with UKA.
Full UKA affiliation requires individual runners to purchase a competition licence, currently £17 (as of Feb 2023).
At Stevenage Striders, we aim to keep running accessible without additional membership fees, so we remain affiliated only to ARC.
When entering UKA races, members should declare themselves as unaffiliated.
Summary:
ARC races – affiliated
UKA races – unaffiliated
Herts County Amateur Athletics Association (HCAA)
The club is also affiliated with the Herts County Amateur Athletics Association.
HCAA organises a programme of road races across a range of distances, nominated as County Championship races.
Members can compete for County medals and awards simply by ticking the “County” box on their race entry form.
The club website lists all nominated County Championship races at each distance.
Review of Affiliations
The club’s committee reviews all affiliations at least once a year to ensure they continue to reflect the club’s ethos and the best interests of our members.
