The Wellbeing Role and How We Can Support You
Our mental health touches every part of our lives. It shapes how we think, how we feel, and how we act. It influences our relationships, our daily routines, and our performance at work. Yet, many of us feel uneasy talking about it.
At Stevenage Striders, we want you to know that talking is the first step toward taking control and feeling a little better.
Life can throw challenges our way—whether it’s a difficult situation, unexpected news, or personal struggles—and when we face them alone, problems can feel overwhelming. Seeking help is not a sign of weakness—it is a sign of strength. Everyone’s path to wellness is different, and what works for one person may not work for another.
But the journey always begins in the same place: with the decision to take control, to feel better, and to seek support. That support can come in many forms: a book, a podcast, a friend, a colleague, a mentor, a counsellor, or a wellbeing representative.
At Stevenage Striders, we are fortunate to have several members with experience supporting others. While we do not offer a formal counselling service, these members can provide guidance, support, and, most importantly, a confidential and empathetic ear to help you take your first step toward wellness.
Please don’t suffer in silence. Reach out to any of these individuals—before, during, or after a run, via messenger, or using their contact details below. You don’t have to face it alone.
