How to use the “Club news” page
The Club news page is a Squarespace “blog” page, and posts can be added, edited, removed, scheduled etc by anyone logged into the site that has the appropriate permissions. Let me know if you don’t think you have edit permissions and you think this is incorrect.
Either go to squarespace.com and log in using your club account, or go straight to the new Stevenage striders new website (where you may need to log in to have access to the edit controls on the left).
Go to pages, then find the “club news” link with the fountain pen icon next to it in the panel on the left.
Click “Club news” to go to the news overview page.
The club news page shows an overview of the existing posts on the left, and a preview of the news page on the right.
To add a new post, click the plus (+) icon in the top left.
This will take you to the edit page for your new news post. Start with a post title and then feel free to add whatever content you wish.
Text can be resized using the various test “types” like medium paragraph, large heading etc. It can be formatted bold, italic, left justify, centre align etc much like a word document. Links can be added to other pages of the Striders site or to external websites using the chain icon.
New content blocks are added using the dark grey insert block tab icon that appears on the left when the mouse is placed at the bottom or top of an existing block.
Lots of different kind of content blocks can be added, including images, video, maps, buttons, spacers etc.
Content blocks can be moved around by dragging the white pop-up bubble that describes the content block. “Text” or “Image” etc.
Drag blocks around to place them where the grey insert line appears among your existing blocks.
When you’re happy with a news post, hover over the “Done” button in the top left.
Click save to save as a draft without publishing, or publish to make the post accessible right away.
Your new post should appear in both the feed on the left of the news overview page, and as a title on the news page preview, although currently without a thumbnail image.
To add a thumbnail image, click “edit” next to the title of your new post in the feed on the left.
This will reopen your post in the editor view. Content can be changed here. To add the thumbnail image, click the cog icon in the far top right corner.
The screen allows many properties of your post to be edited. In the options tab, an image can be uploaded to be used as a thumbnail.
Click apply when you’re done and then save your edited news post using the original button in the top left.
